Energy Saving Landscaping





Just because your doing energy saving landscaping doesn't mean your place won't look great. These tips can save you over 25% of heating and cooling and have the best looking house on the block! Just remember too that watering your lawn and gardens account for half of residential water consumption - so conserve as best you can.

  • Planting deciduous trees in the northeast-southeast and northwest-southwest sides of your home provide shade from the sun for cooling during the summer and allow solar heating during the winter.
  • Shrubs and vines can give some nice shade during the summer ,but be sure to have somne space between them and your home for good air curculation.
  • Evergreen trees can provide a wind breaker from harsh winds in the winter.
  • Sprinkler timers also help conserve water. There's also solar powered ones
  • Solar landscape lights come in a wide variety now and there's no turning them off or running wires underground.
  • For your garden there's also solar fountains to spruce it up and the energy is absolutely free from the sun!
